Let me introduce myself.

Hello, my name is Oswaldo Eleazar Salas Ruiz. I am 19 years old, and since 2022, I have realized that my true passion is to study psychology. My goal is to support everyone I can, understanding that while I can help those who seek it, I can only save those who want to be saved.

I am the youngest of three siblings and have few memories of my father. My mother made significant mistakes, such as forcing my older brother out of the house. He went to live with our paternal grandmother, and I lost contact with him until seven years ago when he discovered that my mother had abandoned me. He brought me from Sonora to an orphanage called "Orphanage City of Refuge" in Rosarito.

Since entering the orphanage, I have discovered my great passion for various sports, both in practicing and watching them. Some of my favorites include:

  • Surfing (although I do not swim very well, I love it)

  • Volleyball (a passion I developed in high school)

  • American football (which I have enjoyed since elementary school, aspiring to emulate Patrick Mahomes)

I am also fascinated by the electric guitar and photography. I would like to express my gratitude to Bruno Barbieri for all the support he has given me.

While I may not be the best student, I have set a goal for myself to become someone who can help others. I understand the pain of falling into depression due to the loss of a family member. My older brother passed away on May 29, 2022. He was the only person who truly believed in me and had faith in everything I did. His last wish was for me to achieve what he couldn't in life and to enjoy all the beautiful things life has to offer. He developed Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in 2020 and always hid it from me to protect me.

Getting this scholarship would bring me a step closer to fulfilling my promise to my brother and making him proud of who I am (college is just the beginning, not the end). It would also let me show that all the support I've received from others has paid off, and prove to those who doubted me that I'm making it happen. This career is my way of giving back to everyone who's helped me along the way. There are so many people who've supported me that it's hard to know where to start, but one thing's for sure: everything I learn at university will be used to "be," as my boss says. We should do things with love and a desire to help others, not just for personal gain.
